The article offers tips on how lab diagnostics can support COVID-19 patient management. Topics include the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the healthcare system and the rise in demand for bed capacity and personal protective equipment (PPE); and the need of an effective of laboratory diagnostics in COVID-19 patient management with the use of alternative methods such as IL-6, procalcitonin (PCT), and D-dimer for critically ill patients.
