  The article discusses COVID-19 disease and how its severe cases relate to cytokine storm syndrome (CSS). Also cited are the normal and abnormal immunologic responses to virus infection, the COVID-19 patient mortality based on World Health Organization (WHO) data, and the severe symptoms of COVID-19, including severe hypoxia and respiratory distress similar to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
