The article looks at a study published in journal "Brain, Behavior and Immunity" in which researcher infected the noses of golden Syrian hamsters with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID and found hamsters' sustentacular cells were infected. It also mentions Olfactory neurons do not have angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors, which allow the virus entry to cells, on their surface. It also mentions loss of chemical sensing on refreshing sensation of mint.
